Renea: With my schedule I don’t have hours to spend on styling every day, so I focus on low maintenance styles that protect my hair and save time. I often opt for protective styles like wigs that last and allow me to get up and go. I schedule time for self-care once a month. 

Whether it’s a quiet evening, or getting a massage, I treat it as a necessary recharge. Balancing everything isn’t easy, but I’ve learned that self-care isn’t a luxury it’s fuel. taking care of my hair, even in small ways, helps me feel centered, confident, and ready to conquer whatever the day brings. Whether I’m packaging orders, in a business meeting, or spending time with my child, I show up as my best self-starting with how I care for me.

HH: Building House of Heels Miami into a six-figure business took passion and perseverance. What are some key lessons you’ve learned about entrepreneurship that aspiring business owners should know?

Renea: Building House of Heels Miami into a six-figure business has been a journey filled with passion and a whole lot of learning along the way. There were so many lessons I learned, but here are a few that I believe every aspiring business owner should know: Start before you’re ready, cash flow is everything, and adapt and learn constantly. Entrepreneurship takes passion, perseverance, and patience. There will be highs and lows, but if you keep showing up, stay true to your mission, and keep learning as you grow, the rewards are beyond worth it.

HH: With such a packed schedule, do you have any go-to hair maintenance tips or favorite styles that help you stay polished and ready for business without taking up too much time?

Renea: It’s all about having a simple, consistent routine that works for your lifestyle. Keep your hair moisturized, moisture is key to healthy hair, and take your vitamins; healthy hair starts from the inside. Also, Stick to a hair care routine. As a busy woman, the goal is to keep it simple, healthy, and stylish.

HH: Balancing work, family, and business can be overwhelming. How do you stay organized and avoid burnout while keeping everything running smoothly?

Renea: Work, family, and running House of Heels Miami can definitely feel overwhelming at times. Planning Is Everything, I live by my calendar! I set boundaries with my time, especially when it comes to business. Even with a busy schedule, I carve out small moments for myself whether that’s doing my hair, going for a walk, journaling, or just sitting in silence for 10 minutes. Staying organized and avoiding burnout is about creating systems, protecting your peace, and giving yourself grace.

HH: From your first business venture to launching House of Heels Miami, your journey has been inspiring. What advice do you have for women who are hesitant to take that first step into entrepreneurship?

Renea: You’ll never feel 100% ready and that’s okay. I didn’t have all the answers when I started either. But if you wait for the “perfect time,” you’ll always find a reason to hold back. Take the leap with what you have, and trust that you’ll figure it out along the way.
