Golden Threads: Oribe’s Gilded Gift Sets – News

Each year, Oribe’s annual holiday collaboration dazzles salon guests with unique, special-edition packaging featuring the work of a thoughtfully chosen artist.

“Oribe’s holiday collaboration originated from a desire to surprise and delight consumers by elevating secondary packaging from a functional box into an artistic canvas to showcase our brand value of craftsmanship and embrace our culture of storytelling as makers,” says Jennifer Smith, vice president of product creation.

This year, multidisciplinary Finnish artist Kustaa Saksi was selected for his specialty in graphic storytelling through patterns and textile art.

Saksi’s Vision

“Golden Threads,” Saksi’s design for Oribe’s four, limited-edition gift sets is a woven masterpiece that draws from the iconic black and cream design of Oribe’s best-selling Gold Lust Collection.

Saksi’s depiction of Norse goddess Sif’s golden, flowing hair was inspired by the Oribe goddess emblem: “Her hair is a symbol of everything the earth provides to us,” he says. “It’s that mix of beauty, change, and nature that inspired this piece.”

Saksi adds, “Attention to detail has always been so important to me, and that’s something the Oribe team and I share: a love of craftsmanship. We both create work that uses layering, texture and precision to create something really special.”

This shared common thread is woven throughout the collaboration’s gift sets, which use ornately layered gold foils and intricate printing and embossing to convey the season’s spirit of giving.

Oribe Holiday Sets in the Salon

Faith Mouse, owner of Flaunt Hair Salon in Norman, Oklahoma, says Oribe’s holiday collections are so much more than a retail moment for her guests—they’re a seasonal experience.

“Every year, our clients look forward to seeing how we’ll unveil the collection,” Mouse says. “The sets are elegant and artfully designed, which already gives them that ‘giftable luxury’ feel, but we love taking it a step further by creating an entire in-salon environment that celebrates the artistry behind Oribe.”

Mouse says Flaunt clients instantly recognize the Oribe Holiday sets’ exclusivity and value, and look forward to them.

“The limited-edition packaging, the story behind the featured artist, and the way we display them combine to make the collection feel truly collectible,” she says. “For many of our guests, it’s become an annual tradition to purchase their favorite Oribe products through these sets—not just for themselves, but as the ultimate holiday gift.”

The Oribe holiday sets don’t just transform Mouse’s retail space—they also transform her bottom line.

“November and December are consistently our highest-performing months of the year— both in traffic and total retail revenue. Over half of our retail sales during those months come directly from Oribe holiday sets,” she says.

Creating a Vibe

When “Golden Threads” arrived, Mouse hosted an internal ‘Oribe Reveal’ day for her team, complete with refreshments, product education and display setup.

“Then we built an immersive retail experience for our clients: custom signage, tiered displays and even a scent bar that features Oribe’s signature fragrances,” she says. “We released the sets early, before the typical holiday rush, to build anticipation and give our stylists time to start introducing them in conversations.”

This year, Flaunt rolled out the sets in the fall.

“To complement the elegant tones of the Golden Threads collection, we tied rich blue velvet bows on top of pumpkins—a nod to autumn with a Flaunt twist,” she says. “As the season transitions, so does our display: by November, the salon transforms into a glam winter wonderland accented with our signature pink hues.

“Our clients and stylists love watching the Oribe holiday sets come to life in new ways as the décor evolves—it keeps the excitement alive all season long and makes the collection feel like a true Flaunt tradition.”

Mouse says designing these displays is a creative challenge she looks forward to each year, curating the sets to feel like a luxury pop-up inside her salon.

“To keep momentum strong, we run monthly sales challenges that are tracked visually on our break room board,” she says. “Stylists earn Oribe swag, gift cards and Flaunt-exclusive prizes. On social media, we highlight both the artistry behind the packaging and our stylists’ favorite picks, mixing Oribe’s official imagery with our own salon photography to make it feel authentically Flaunt. By the time December hits, the collection has become a full-blown Flaunt experience—one that blends luxury retail with passion and community.”
