Akua Robinson has coined the term “Your Best friend in Beauty”.
You don’t have to live in a major city to experience a fruitful career as a beauty pro.” says Akua Robinson. Akua Robinson , the dynamic beauty podcast host, helps support the DMV beauty entrepreneurs with networking, and going to the next level in their career . Many Makeup artists, and hairstylists feel lonely going through life obstacles of trying to create a successful business. While trying to balance daily ebbs and flows of life, and striving for their dreams.

Akua Robinson, a Washington D.C. native has been doing beauty networking events in the DMV area for a long time. She found there was a need in the Washington D.C, Maryland, and Virginia area. Many makeup artists, hairstylists, nail techs, and beauty-prenuers frequent New York City , and major cities like Atlanta and L.A. to get their shot in the beauty industry. Akua found a solution to the problem by creating change, and innovation in the beauty industry. She wanted to do something special right here in her hometown to make beauty professionals feel like they can thrive, and be successful with consistent, momentous, and monumental beauty opportunities. Akua said a lot of her major job opportunities have come through networking, and she wanted her other peers, and colleagues to experience the greatness of this without having to go too far.
She is a true supporter to up and coming service providers who want to know how to begin their career in the Beauty industry.Develop, and execute a plan for her fellow industry peers. She has created a series of successful events over and over again. Akua has championed the beauty industry by winning awards, and grants. This includes the 2023 AJ Crimson Trailblazer Award at the Black Beauty roster event in New York City, and a Black Beauty Roster and Tarte Cosmetics $10,000 surprise business grant the same evening. Recently, she has won the LOREAL× NAACP $10,000 grant. She makes everyone feel welcomed in her presence, including me.

I’m so ecstatic and joyful to have met her. In addition, to the other DMV friends in beauty. She has done beauty give backs events for kids in need. By having a toy drop off at her beauty events, and later donating to a local shelter. She has a beauty podcast, which airs every week, and has had a few live podcasts with makeup veterans in the industry . She hosts the NYC Makeup Show bus trip every year for women in the DMV area to go to the show together to collaborate, encourage each other, and hold space. I really love her tenacity, and willingness to promote community engagement among her peers. What she is doing in the beauty space makes me so teary eyed, and we all can’t wait to see her beautiful journey unfold even more .
You may have seen her on television doing makeup on Housewives of Potomac. She works on different photo shoots, T.V. shows, everyday women, and teaches makeup at Bennett Career Institute in the DMV area.
