After spending 2024 commemorating 100 years of MODERN SALON, we head into 2025…so where do we go from here? Now 101, MODERN SALON continues to transition in how it meets the needs of today’s professionals.

A legacy without a leg to stand on isn’t very interesting, so MODERN embraces the responsibility of supporting our industry.  Here are some of the important topics we’ll focus on in the coming year.

LET’S GO, 2025

Continuing to Explore Add-On Services for Increased Revenue

  • It’s not just sharks who have to keep moving to survive.  For a salon professional who finds themselves struggling to stay ahead of inflation, add-on services may be the answer.
  • At our MODERN SALON Boot Camp in Scottsdale, AZ in April, we will do a deep dive into the big difference small tweaks and additions can make to your business.
  • We have an upcoming webinar that talks about pricing your services properly–knowing how much to charge to cover costs and realize a profit.  You can register here!
  • This free, on-demand webinar features salon pros who found success either specializing or adding-on. Tune in!

Our Boot Camp events are held across the county, and allow industry professionals to learn and grow, together.

Talking About Mental Wellness and Featuring Resilience Programs

Inclusive Beauty Conversations

  • We can be proud of what a diverse and welcoming space our beauty industry has always been, but we have further to go and more to do.
  • Conversations around working with different hair textures, neurodiverse stylists, and support of our LGBTQ family members will continue.
  • Inclusive also includes sustainability.  It matters to consumers, it matters to you, it matters to us.

Enhancing Educational Resources and Partnerships

  • We’re lucky that this is an industry that doesn’t—as they say—“gatekeep.”  For the most part, you can reach out for help and find it.  Or reach out for advice and it will be offered.
  • We will collaborate with our partners to bring you best-in-class education, tutorials, and events.

Career Pathways for Every Stage

  • Our mantra for years has been, “Supporting salon professionals at every stage of their career.”  And now we are looking at ways to expand our coverage (which has historically been hair-focused) with more reporting on different segments, including skincare.

 Technology and Social Media Mastery

  • Consumers will keep discovering beauty services via social media which means the importance of a strong online presence may become more and more important.
  • Here’s a free, on-demand webinar with two social experts who have some advice for staying ahead without losing your mind.
  • Look for more reporting on Artificial Intelligence, and how it can support your ongoing efforts on social media, plus assist with all sorts of administrative tasks.

Community Building and Support

  • The importance of community and networking can’t be understated.  For 100 years, we have seen connection drive growth and create a healthy environment for professionals to flourish.
  • At our MODERN SALON Boot Camp events, we provide a day of education and inspiration, while being a beautiful place for salon professionals to come together.
