In the high-pressure world we live in, it’s all too easy to let meetings, obligations, and the endless pull of other people’s expectations dictate our schedules. One insight from my therapist has become a personal mantra: “Add yourself to the calendar weekly and remove yourself from anything that costs too much—mentally, emotionally, spiritually.”

This simple practice has been a game-changer. By intentionally scheduling time for rest, reflection, and self-care, I’ve found that my life feels fuller, more focused, and more aligned with what truly matters. It’s a reminder that self-investment is not indulgent, it’s strategic.
- Check in with yourself like you check your phone. Build awareness around how you feel, what you need, and what you’re ready to give.
- Disconnect to Reconnect with what truly matters, family, friends, or your own creative pursuits.
- Own your joy unapologetically. Celebrate the things that make you feel alive.
- Cancel what drains you. Not every commitment is worth your time or emotional energy.
- Say “no” without explanation. Boundaries are a business and lifestyle strategy, not a negotiation.
- Say “yes” to what restores you. Whether it’s a hobby, a walk in nature, or quiet reflection, prioritize experiences that renew your energy.
- Value alone time. You don’t always need company to thrive or to feel productive; solitude can be restorative.

Incorporating these practices into your lifestyle doesn’t just support mental health, it enhances productivity, decision-making, and overall life satisfaction. The bottom line is clear: you don’t have to carry it all. You don’t have to justify your self-care. You simply have to choose consistently, strategically, and intentionally.
In business and in life, the most successful people understand this: investing in yourself is the foundation for everything else. So, put yourself on the calendar, protect your energy, and watch how your personal and professional life transforms.
