Summer is for road trips, “songs of the summer,” and–for Summer ’25–buttery blondes.
When pop star Sabrina Carpenter launched the music video for her latest single “Manchild” (sure to be a summer banger), fans of her music were also treated to Carpenter’s buttery blonde curls designed by Redken colorist, Laurie Heaps.
Longtime colorist and Redken ambassador, Heaps shared the finished look on IG (@_hairbylaurie), and here is the exact Redken formula she used to bring the look to life, featuring a fresh drop from the new Shades EQ Pearl Vinyl Blondes.
Step-by-Step Breakdown from Laurie Heaps:
- I used Redken Flash Lift with Bonder Inside—my go-to for lift. It gives me total control without damaging the hair. I used 10 volume at the back and around the hairline, then bumped it up to 20 volume on top and sides.
- I remove foils as they’re ready with a damp towel, letting the rest keep processing.
- After shampooing, I glossed her roots with Redken’s new Shades EQ Pearl Vinyl Blondes in 8NV to add that soft, grown-in vibe.
- Then we gave her a little trim, added face-framing layers, and brought the bangs back—with a modern, disconnected feel.
Redken Shades EQ Hair Gloss
Redken’s Shades EQ, the hair color that thinks it’s a conditioner, is a demi-gloss that enhances tone, refreshes color, and adds shine. It’s the healthier way to tone thanks to its acidic, no lift formula.
