Satin Hair Color Reveals Top Trending Hair Colors for Summer – Color

Blondes have always been synonymous with summer. Think surfer girls with sun-kissed locks riding the waves in Malibu. Old Money Blondes (cool and warm tones with a neutral base) are having their moment this spring, but we’ll be seeing something entirely different for summer. Lisa Finucane, Director of Sales and Education for Satin Hair Color, predicts a mix of highs and lows, what she calls sunny brown-blonde, as the weather warms up.

Imagine a chocolate-brown base with brighter pieces framing the face. Finucane compares it to a melt with darker roots and lighter color from midshaft to ends. The look lends itself to a variety of techniques from balayage to foiling to painted-on color, and it’s just the thing for clients who want to go lighter for summer but may not be seeing their hairdresser as often or want a lower-maintenance look.

“We’re still seeing a lot of barrel curls and beach waves, which benefit from a contrast in color,” says Finucane, who suggests using any of the mocha shades in the Satin Hair Color permanent hair color line to darken the base. “For the blonde pieces, I’d recommend our Satin Blue Powder Lightener Bleach with 40-volume developer for the most lift.”

Finucane also expects that we’ll see a lot of bright, vibrant hair color at music festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo this summer. So, what’s out? “I think we’ll see less of those icy Norwegian blondes and more bolder shades of red, pink and violet.” For a new twist on the trend, she suggests keeping the base darker and using vivid colors like Satin’s Bold Hair Color in Purple Dark Violet (5P) or Pink (6PK) on pre-lightened midshafts and ends.

How To Achieve the Perfect Summer Pink:

  1. Begin by pre-lightening the midsections and ends of hair using Satin Blue Powder Lightener Bleach paired with Satin Hair Color’s 40 Volume Developer.
  2. Follow up with an all-over gloss application using Satin’s Bold Hair Color. Mix ¾ of shade 6PK with ¼ of Satin Hair Color’s shade CL (clear), combined with Satin Hair Color’s Demi Gel Developer.
  3. Let the mixture process for 20 minutes.

Satin Hair Color is not only infused with aloe vera for brilliant shine and soy protein to deeply nourish each strand, but it’s also low in ammonia, cruelty-free free and vegan.

“The magic is in the developers,” says Finucane. “We’ve got the traditional 10, 20, 30 and 40-volume but also one called CG (Cover Gray) that generates more energy to soften the cuticle, so the color penetrates better and provides long-lasting gray coverage. Meanwhile, the Demi Gel Developer is great for color balancing, blending the first signs of gray or toning and glossing.”

With 72 expertly formulated permanent hair color shades and nine Bold Hair Color shades with micro-color molecules that ensure superior fade-resistant color, Satin Hair Color is committed to versatility, quality color at great pricing that promotes confidence and creativity in colorists.
