The Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actress is set to return as the host of the BET Awards this year, by popular demand as announced by BET on Monday, June 3. In a press statement, Henson expressed her excitement about hosting the BET Awards for the third time, stating, “I am thrilled to be returning as the host of the BET Awards for the third time. I am also looking forward to celebrating my peers and the impact of our culture on entertainment.”
Having previously won six BET Awards, the actress will once again take on the role of emcee for the annual ceremony, which will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 30. Known for her infectious smile and personality and aura , the star is set to host Culture’s Biggest Night, the BET Awards, which celebrates Black creativity.
The event serves as a platform to honor the best aspects of the Black experience, showcasing music, creativity, and sportsmanship while driving social change. This year’s BET Awards will feature performances by Common, GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Victoria Monét, with more artists to be announced. Additionally, R&B icon Usher will receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his musical legacy.
The BET Experience leading up to the awards show will include performances by Queen Latifah, Davido, Common, Gunna, The Roots, Cardi B, and others from Thursday, June 26 to Sunday, June 30.
